compatibility with a Linux interface which was apparently deprecated in Linux 2.6. There are various mailing list threads going back to 2004 where the usefulness of this driver is discussed, but the conclusion is that scanner software has all moved to using ugen(4) instead, and enabling this driver will not help you scan things. @ text @# $NetBSD: majors.hpcmips,v 1.35 2020/04/04 16:06:13 jdolecek Exp $ # # Device majors for hpcmips # device-major mem char 0 device-major swap char 1 block 0 vmswap device-major cons char 2 device-major ctty char 3 device-major filedesc char 4 device-major log char 5 device-major ptc char 6 pty device-major pts char 7 pty device-major com char 8 com device-major wd char 10 block 1 wd device-major fd char 11 block 2 fdc device-major md char 12 block 6 md device-major ccd char 13 block 7 ccd device-major vnd char 14 block 8 vnd device-major raid char 15 block 9 raid device-major scsibus char 16 scsibus device-major sd char 17 block 3 sd device-major st char 18 block 4 st device-major cd char 19 block 5 cd device-major ch char 20 ch device-major uk char 21 uk device-major ss char 22 ss device-major usb char 23 usb device-major uhid char 24 uhid device-major ulpt char 25 ulpt device-major ugen char 26 ugen device-major ipl char 27 ipfilter device-major tun char 28 tun device-major bpf char 29 bpfilter device-major wsdisplay char 30 wsdisplay device-major wskbd char 31 wskbd device-major wsmouse char 32 wsmouse device-major rnd char 33 rnd device-major biconsdev char 34 biconsdev device-major txcom char 35 txcom device-major ucbsnd char 36 ucbsnd device-major ucom char 37 ucom device-major wsmux char 38 wsmux #device-major obsolete char 39 obsolete (urio) #device-major obsolete char 40 obsolete (uscanner) #device-major obsolete char 41 obsolete (isdn) #device-major obsolete char 42 obsolete (isdnctl) #device-major obsolete char 43 obsolete (isdnbchan) #device-major obsolete char 44 obsolete (isdntrc) #device-major obsolete char 45 obsolete (isdntel) device-major clockctl char 46 clockctl #device-major obsolete char 47 obsolete (lkm) device-major audio char 48 audio #device-major obsolete char 49 obsolete (systrace) device-major cgd char 50 block 10 cgd device-major apmdev char 51 apmdev device-major midi char 52 midi device-major sequencer char 53 sequencer device-major pci char 54 pci device-major ksyms char 55 ksyms #device-major obsolete char 100 obsolete (flash) device-major vr4181aiu char 101 vr4181aiu device-major wsfont char 102 wsfont device-major ses char 103 ses #device-major obsolete char 104 obsolete (nsmb) # Majors up to 143 are reserved for machine-dependent drivers. # New machine-independent driver majors are assigned in # sys/conf/majors. @ 1.35 log @mark nsmb major obsolete @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.hpcmips,v 1.34 2020/01/29 18:39:02 maya Exp $ d46 1 a46 1 device-major uscanner char 40 uscanner @ 1.35.8.1 log @Sync with HEAD. @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.hpcmips,v 1.36 2021/06/29 10:22:35 nia Exp $ d46 1 a46 1 #device-major obsolete char 40 obsolete (uscanner) @ 1.34 log @remove urio(4), a driver for the Rio500 MP3 player. At this point it is highly unlikely this 1999 device still has users, but it still comes up in the context of maxv's USB-fuzzing (and any device could pretend to be a urio(4)), so it's best to get rid of it. Renamed all major entries to obsolete, as was done in previous removals. This still requires an update to sanitizers, but they're located in "external", perhaps it should be first committed upstream? Proposed on tech-kern a month ago. @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.hpcmips,v 1.33 2019/01/28 02:28:58 dholland Exp $ d66 1 a66 1 device-major nsmb char 104 nsmb @ 1.33 log @Systematize handling of removed drivers. - Every driver that was removed and whose number hasn't already been reused is now listed with a commented-out "obsolete" line. - The format of these has been systematized. Future format changes can probably be safely done with a script. - This does not include a few cases of assignments that only lasted a couple days, or stuff from before major reorgs. Some of these may be included nonetheless, because there was a lot of ground to cover and therefore not a lot of time to dig into history in detail. Note that the obsolete listings do not mean the major numbers can never be reused; that's up to portmasters and/or core. It does mean that they won't be reused by accident, however, which in some cases (depending on the driver, how widely used it was, its family of device nodes, their default permissions, etc.) can be quite dangerous. Note that some of the things now explicitly listed as obsolete are really ancient history. My scan went back as far as when the majors files were added. (But not before that.) @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.hpcmips,v 1.32 2018/09/23 09:21:02 maxv Exp $ d45 1 a45 1 device-major urio char 39 urio @ 1.33.6.1 log @Sync with head. @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.hpcmips,v 1.34 2020/01/29 18:39:02 maya Exp $ d45 1 a45 1 #device-major obsolete char 39 obsolete (urio) @ 1.32 log @Remove ISDN from the kernel. This merge changes the device switch tables from static array to dynamically generated by config(8). - All device switches is defined as a constant structure in device drivers. - The new grammer ``device-major'' is introduced to ``files''. device-major char [block ] [] - All device major numbers must be listed up in port dependent majors. by using this grammer. - Added the new naming convention. The name of the device switch must be _[bc]devsw for auto-generation of device switch tables. - The backward compatibility of loading block/character device switch by LKM framework is broken. This is necessary to convert from block/character device major to device name in runtime and vice versa. - The restriction to assign device major by LKM is completely removed. We don't need to reserve LKM entries for dynamic loading of device switch. - In compile time, device major numbers list is packed into the kernel and the LKM framework will refer it to assign device major number dynamically. @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.hpcmips,v 1.1.2.3 2002/07/14 17:46:57 gehenna Exp $ d56 1 @ 1.2.2.1 log @file majors.hpcmips was added on branch nathanw_sa on 2002-09-17 21:14:46 +0000 @ text @d1 55 @ 1.2.2.2 log @Catch up to -current. @ text @a0 55 # $NetBSD: majors.hpcmips,v 1.2.2.1 2002/09/17 21:14:46 nathanw Exp $ # # Device majors for hpcmips # device-major mem char 0 device-major swap char 1 block 0 device-major cons char 2 device-major ctty char 3 device-major filedesc char 4 device-major log char 5 device-major ptc char 6 pty device-major pts char 7 pty device-major com char 8 com device-major wd char 10 block 1 wd device-major fd char 11 block 2 fdc device-major md char 12 block 6 md device-major ccd char 13 block 7 ccd device-major vnd char 14 block 8 vnd device-major raid char 15 block 9 raid device-major scsibus char 16 scsibus device-major sd char 17 block 3 sd device-major st char 18 block 4 st device-major cd char 19 block 5 cd device-major ch char 20 ch device-major uk char 21 uk device-major ss char 22 ss device-major usb char 23 usb device-major uhid char 24 uhid device-major ulpt char 25 ulpt device-major ugen char 26 ugen device-major ipl char 27 ipfilter device-major tun char 28 tun device-major bpf char 29 bpfilter device-major wsdisplay char 30 wsdisplay device-major wskbd char 31 wskbd device-major wsmouse char 32 wsmouse device-major rnd char 33 rnd device-major biconsdev char 34 biconsdev device-major txcom char 35 txcom device-major ucbsnd char 36 ucbsnd device-major ucom char 37 ucom device-major wsmux char 38 wsmux device-major urio char 39 urio device-major uscanner char 40 uscanner device-major isdn char 41 isdn device-major isdnctl char 42 isdnctl device-major isdnbchan char 43 isdnbchan device-major isdntrc char 44 isdntrc device-major isdntel char 45 isdntel device-major clockctl char 46 clockctl device-major lkm char 47 lkm device-major audio char 48 audio device-major systrace char 49 systrace @ 1.2.2.3 log @Catch up to -current. @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.hpcmips,v 1.2.2.2 2002/10/18 02:37:05 nathanw Exp $ a55 2 device-major cgd char 50 block 10 cgd device-major apmdev char 51 apmdev @ 1.2.2.4 log @Sync with HEAD. @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.hpcmips,v 1.2.2.3 2002/12/11 05:58:40 thorpej Exp $ a57 2 device-major midi char 52 midi device-major sequencer char 53 sequencer @ 1.2.2.5 log @Sync with HEAD. @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.hpcmips,v 1.2.2.4 2003/01/03 16:45:08 thorpej Exp $ a59 1 device-major pci char 54 pci @ 1.1 log @file majors.hpcmips was initially added on branch gehenna-devsw. @ text @d1 55 @ 1.1.2.1 log @Add the list of block/character majors. @ text @a0 53 # # Device majors for hpcmips # device-major mem char 0 device-major swap char 1 block 0 device-major cons char 2 device-major ctty char 3 device-major filedesc char 4 device-major log char 5 device-major ptc char 6 pty device-major pts char 7 pty device-major com char 8 com device-major wd char 10 block 1 wd device-major fd char 11 block 2 fdc device-major md char 12 block 6 md device-major ccd char 13 block 7 ccd device-major vnd char 14 block 8 vnd device-major raid char 15 block 9 raid device-major scsibus char 16 scsibus device-major sd char 17 block 3 sd device-major st char 18 block 4 st device-major cd char 19 block 5 cd device-major ch char 20 ch device-major uk char 21 uk device-major ss char 22 ss device-major usb char 23 usb device-major uhid char 24 uhid device-major ulpt char 25 ulpt device-major ugen char 26 ugen device-major ipl char 27 ipfilter device-major tun char 28 tun device-major bpf char 29 bpfilter device-major wsdisplay char 30 wsdisplay device-major wskbd char 31 wskbd device-major wsmouse char 32 wsmouse device-major rnd char 33 rnd device-major biconsdev char 34 biconsdev device-major txcom char 35 txcom device-major ucbsnd char 36 ucbsnd device-major ucom char 37 ucom device-major wsmux char 38 wsmux device-major urio char 39 urio device-major uscanner char 40 uscanner device-major isdn char 41 isdn device-major isdnctl char 42 isdnctl device-major isdnbchan char 43 isdnbchan device-major isdntrc char 44 isdntrc device-major isdntel char 45 isdntel device-major clockctl char 46 clockctl device-major lkm char 47 lkm device-major audio char 48 audio @ 1.1.2.2 log @Add $NetBSD$ @ text @a0 1 # $NetBSD$ @ 1.1.2.3 log @catch up with -current. @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.hpcmips,v 1.1.2.2 2002/05/30 07:14:45 gehenna Exp $ a54 1 device-major systrace char 49 systrace @
