up to 143 are reserved for machine-dependent drivers. # New machine-independent driver majors are assigned in # sys/conf/majors. @ 1.29 log @Systematize handling of removed drivers. - Every driver that was removed and whose number hasn't already been reused is now listed with a commented-out "obsolete" line. - The format of these has been systematized. Future format changes can probably be safely done with a script. - This does not include a few cases of assignments that only lasted a couple days, or stuff from before major reorgs. Some of these may be included nonetheless, because there was a lot of ground to cover and therefore not a lot of time to dig into history in detail. Note that the obsolete listings do not mean the major numbers can never be reused; that's up to portmasters and/or core. It does mean that they won't be reused by accident, however, which in some cases (depending on the driver, how widely used it was, its family of device nodes, their default permissions, etc.) can be quite dangerous. Note that some of the things now explicitly listed as obsolete are really ancient history. My scan went back as far as when the majors files were added. (But not before that.) @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.shark,v 1.28 2017/02/17 19:43:40 macallan Exp $ d72 1 a72 1 device-major nsmb char 98 nsmb @ 1.28 log @add major number for pci ( same as in arch/arm/conf ) @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.shark,v 1.27 2011/06/30 20:09:36 wiz Exp $ d30 5 a34 1 d38 1 d67 1 d69 1 @ 1.28.14.1 log @Sync with HEAD @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.shark,v 1.29 2019/01/28 02:29:00 dholland Exp $ d30 1 a30 5 #device-major obsolete char 27 obsolete (ses) #device-major obsolete char 28 obsolete (uk) #device-major obsolete char 29 obsolete (ch) #device-major obsolete char 30 obsolete (ss) #device-major obsolete char 31 obsolete (scsibus) a33 1 #device-major obsolete char 35 obsolete (lkm) a61 1 #device-major obsolete char 85 obsolete (systrace) a62 1 #device-major obsolete char 87 obsolete (pf) @ 1.28.14.2 log @Merge changes from current as of 20200406 @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD$ d72 1 a72 1 #device-major obsolete char 98 obsolete (nsmb) @ 1.27 log @dependant -> dependent @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.shark,v 1.26 2008/11/12 12:36:06 ad Exp $ d63 1 @ 1.27.12.1 log @update from HEAD @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD$ a62 1 device-major pci char 88 pci @ 1.27.30.1 log @Sync with HEAD @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.shark,v 1.28 2017/02/17 19:43:40 macallan Exp $ a62 1 device-major pci char 88 pci @ 1.27.38.1 log @Sync with HEAD @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.shark,v 1.28 2017/02/17 19:43:40 macallan Exp $ a62 1 device-major pci char 88 pci @ 1.27.34.1 log @Sync with HEAD @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.shark,v 1.28 2017/02/17 19:43:40 macallan Exp $ a62 1 device-major pci char 88 pci @ 1.26 log @Remove LKMs and switch to the module framework, pass 1. This branch was a major cleanup and rototill of many of the various OEA cpu based PPC ports that focused on sharing as much code as possible between the various ports to eliminate near-identical copies of files in every tree. Additionally there is a new PIC system that unifies the interface to interrupt code for all different OEA ppc arches. The work for this branch was done by a variety of people, too long to list here. TODO: bebox still needs work to complete the transition to -renovation. ofppc still needs a bunch of work, which I will be looking at. ev64260 still needs to be renovated amigappc was not attempted. NOTES: pmppc was removed as an arch, and moved to a evbppc target. @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.shark,v 1.22.14.1 2007/10/03 19:25:04 garbled Exp $ a62 1 device-major systrace char 85 systrace @ 1.24.2.1 log @Sync with HEAD. @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.shark,v 1.25 2007/12/31 15:32:05 ad Exp $ d63 1 @ 1.24.8.1 log @Sync with HEAD @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD$ d63 1 @ 1.23 log @Restore a device major for sd(4), which can be attached at atapibus(4). This merge changes the device switch tables from static array to dynamically generated by config(8). - All device switches is defined as a constant structure in device drivers. - The new grammer ``device-major'' is introduced to ``files''. device-major char [block ] [] - All device major numbers must be listed up in port dependent majors. by using this grammer. - Added the new naming convention. The name of the device switch must be _[bc]devsw for auto-generation of device switch tables. - The backward compatibility of loading block/character device switch by LKM framework is broken. This is necessary to convert from block/character device major to device name in runtime and vice versa. - The restriction to assign device major by LKM is completely removed. We don't need to reserve LKM entries for dynamic loading of device switch. - In compile time, device major numbers list is packed into the kernel and the LKM framework will refer it to assign device major number dynamically. @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.shark,v 1.1.2.3 2002/07/15 01:21:06 gehenna Exp $ d25 1 @ 1.2.2.1 log @file majors.shark was added on branch nathanw_sa on 2002-09-17 21:17:29 +0000 @ text @d1 58 @ 1.2.2.2 log @Catch up to -current. @ text @a0 58 # $NetBSD: majors.shark,v 1.2.2.1 2002/09/17 21:17:29 nathanw Exp $ # # Device majors for shark # device-major mem char 0 device-major swap char 1 block 1 device-major cons char 2 device-major ctty char 3 device-major pc char 4 pc device-major ofcons char 4 !pc & ofwgencfg device-major log char 5 device-major ptc char 6 pty device-major pts char 7 pty device-major lpt char 8 lpt device-major com char 12 com device-major wd char 16 block 16 wd device-major md char 18 block 18 md device-major vnd char 19 block 19 vnd device-major ccd char 21 block 21 ccd device-major sd char 24 block 24 sd device-major st char 25 block 25 st device-major cd char 26 block 26 cd device-major uk char 28 uk device-major bpf char 32 bpfilter device-major tun char 33 tun device-major filedesc char 34 device-major lkm char 35 lkm device-major audio char 36 audio device-major opms char 40 opms device-major ipl char 46 ipfilter device-major ofrom char 49 ofrom device-major scr char 50 scr device-major rnd char 52 rnd device-major prof char 53 profiler device-major joy char 56 joy device-major midi char 57 midi device-major sequencer char 58 sequencer device-major vcoda char 59 vcoda device-major raid char 71 block 71 raid device-major openfirm char 77 ofwgencfg device-major clockctl char 84 clockctl device-major systrace char 85 systrace @ 1.2.2.3 log @Catch up to -current. @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.shark,v 1.2.2.2 2002/10/18 02:39:46 nathanw Exp $ a24 1 device-major cgd char 22 block 22 cgd @ 1.1 log @file majors.shark was initially added on branch gehenna-devsw. @ text @d1 58 @ 1.1.2.1 log @Add the list of block/character majors. @ text @a0 56 # # Device majors for shark # device-major mem char 0 device-major swap char 1 block 1 device-major cons char 2 device-major ctty char 3 device-major pc char 4 pc device-major ofcons char 4 !pc & ofwgencfg device-major log char 5 device-major ptc char 6 pty device-major pts char 7 pty device-major lpt char 8 lpt device-major com char 12 com device-major wd char 16 block 16 wd device-major md char 18 block 18 md device-major vnd char 19 block 19 vnd device-major ccd char 21 block 21 ccd device-major sd char 24 block 24 sd device-major st char 25 block 25 st device-major cd char 26 block 26 cd device-major uk char 28 uk device-major bpf char 32 bpfilter device-major tun char 33 tun device-major filedesc char 34 device-major lkm char 35 lkm device-major audio char 36 audio device-major opms char 40 opms device-major ipl char 46 ipfilter device-major ofrom char 49 ofrom device-major scr char 50 scr device-major rnd char 52 rnd device-major prof char 53 profiler device-major joy char 56 joy device-major midi char 57 midi device-major sequencer char 58 sequencer device-major vcoda char 59 vcoda device-major raid char 71 block 71 raid device-major openfirm char 77 ofwgencfg device-major clockctl char 84 clockctl @ 1.1.2.2 log @Add $NetBSD$ @ text @a0 1 # $NetBSD$ @ 1.1.2.3 log @catch up with -current. @ text @d1 1 a1 1 # $NetBSD: majors.shark,v 1.1.2.2 2002/05/30 07:14:52 gehenna Exp $ a57 1 device-major systrace char 85 systrace @
