The Macroassembler AS is a portable macro cross assembler for a variety of microprocessors and -controllers. Though it is mainly targeted at embedded processors and single-board computers, you also find CPU families in the target list that are used in workstations and PCs. Most UNIX systems name their own assembler already 'as', so the name of the AS was modified to 'asl'. The additional letter is to the honor of a person that did quite a lot to spread the UNIX philosophy. @ text @d1 1 a1 1 $NetBSD$ @
